Visit the Ironbridge Gorge Museums for free this Saturday
As part of celebrations for the 30th Anniversary of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums is inviting residents of Telford & Shropshire to visit the Museums for free.

Local residents should bring proof of their Telford or Shropshire home address such as a utility bill or similar.
Visitors can choose to spend the free day in Victorian England at Blists Hill Victorian Town, exploring the atmospheric shops, homes and businesses, or decide that Community Day is a great opportunity to visit a different Museum.
At Enginuity families can work together to pull a locomotive or enjoy looking at beautiful china on display at Coalport China Museum.
Elsewhere residents can explore the dazzling tile galleries at Jackfield Tile Museum, step in to an Ironmaster's home at the Darby Houses or stop for a ‘selfie’ at the world's first cast-iron bridge.
At the event, Telford & Wrekin Council in partnership with IGMT will be promoting the newest lifestyle and tourism information website which will go live on the 30th March.
discovertelford.co.uk will be a one stop shop for local people and visitors alike who are wanting to find out the best things to do and places to go in the area.
To enjoy free admission on Saturday 19 March 2016 written proof of a Telford or Shropshire address must be shown by every adult in the party. Children, visiting with an adult, do not need to show proof of address. Forms of proof of address are a Utility Bill, Driving Licence, Bank Statement or other document that shows a full address.
The fast and convenient Park & Ride service from Jiggers Bank Car Park, TF4 3QE. Is free on Saturday thanks to the generous support of Telford & Wrekin Council.
Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet lead for Tourism, said: “This will be a very proud year for everyone in Telford and Wrekin as we celebrate the 30th birthday of the Ironbridge Gorge becoming a World Heritage Site.
“I am sure that many people will want to mark this special year by taking advantage of the museums being free to visit for Telford and Shropshire residents on 19 March. It should be a great day out.”
Richard Aldred, Marketing Officer at The Ironbridge Gorge Museums said: “The Ironbridge Gorge was one of the first UK sites to be granted World Heritage Site status in 1986, in recognition of the area’s unique contribution to the birth of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century. On Saturday 19 March we look forward to welcoming local residents, both regular visitors and those that have never been before, to our Museums as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations.”
The Museum will be celebrating the 30th anniversary throughout 2016 with a variety of activities and events in partnership with other World Heritage Sites across the U.K..

The Gorge is easily reached via the M6 and M54 motorways exiting at Telford (M54 junction 4 or 6).
