Flood barriers being deployed in Ironbridge
The Environment Agency is currently predicting a rapid rise in the water levels of the River Severn so the decision has been made to deploy the flood barriers.
We are currently installing the gulley bungs and the police are coning off The Wharfage. All shops and businesses remain open as usual.
The Wharfage will be closed to all traffic as of 6am tomorrow and the necessary diversion signs will be in place. Here's a short video which shows what happens when the barriers going up:
