Weekend upgrade to IT system to limit some services
The Council is to shutdown access to some of its service from 6pm on Friday 15 January until 9am on 18 January for an essential IT upgrade to the main IT network which is now 10 years old.
Over this weekend all council ICT and phone systems will be affected. As a result people will not be able to request services, pay for these via our website or submit any of our online forms. Our Everyday Telford App will also be unavailable during this short period.
Council leisure centres, Telford Ice Rink, Horsehay Golf Course, libraries and The Place box office will be open as normal over the weekend however customers may experience a limited service and some delays.
These venues will also be unable to take card payments over the weekend however they will be able to take cash or cheque payments. They will also not be contactable by phone or email while this work takes place.
During the closure the Council’s online budget survey will be unaffected.
Emergency contact numbers for the Council are unaffected and can be found under contacts on the Council's website.
Angie Astley, Assistant Director for Neighbourhood and Customer Services, said:"The work has been programmed over a weekend at one of the quietest times of the year to minimise disruption to our customers. Contractors will be working 24/7 to upgrade the IT network system to allow the council to provide a much more robust IT network.
"We thank residents for their patience and understanding while the work takes place."
Telford Tigers fans going to the weekend’s two fixtures at Telford Ice Rink should be aware that they will need to bring cash to pay for tickets and any refreshments at the game. They should also allow more time than usual to enter the rink in case of delays caused by the rink being unable to take card payments.
If you're applying for your child to start school in September 2016, the deadline for Friday 15 January has been extended to midnight on Tuesday 19 January 2016 due to the Council's ICT shutdown over the weekend.
Bookings for Oakengates Theatre via www.theplacetelford.com will not be affected.
