Take the Challenge for 2016
The New Year is a great time for Telford and Wrekin residents to think about what they want to achieve in the coming months.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s latest campaign is all about harnessing the New Year period and people wanting to make resolutions.
The Telford and Wrekin Challenge 2016 encourages people to look at five areas of their lifestyles – based around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing:
· Connect - with people around you
· Be Active
· Keep Learning
· Give – you’ll be amazed how helping others helps you
· Take Notice – of the present and your surroundings
The Council is inviting residents to get involved – to take up a challenge and make a difference for themselves and the community.
There are over 50 challenges to choose from, including small steps like reading a book, to bigger changes like stopping smoking or signing up for the gym.
People can choose the areas of their lifestyle that they want to make a difference in and select the specific challenges that will work for them.
Once signed up to the challenge, people will be asked to nominate their friends and family on Facebook or Twitter to get involved too and choose their own challenge.
Councillor Richard Overton, cabinet member for Housing, Public Health and Protection, said: “Challenge 2016 is all about helping people to feel better and achieve more in the new year.
“There are so many challenges available for people to choose from that everyone should be able to find one that suits them.
“We hope it won’t be long before the whole of Telford and Wrekin will be feeling the benefits!”
The Telford and Wrekin Challenge 2016 will launch with a media campaign across broadcast, print and online media, as well as on the Council’s social media and other free channels.
