Telford Town Park in final three for title of UK’s best park!
Telford Town Park is one of three shortlisted for the title of the UK’s best park.
Following a nationwide search to find the country’s favourite local green space, Fields in Trust will present the award as part of annual awards on 2 December.
A total of 122 UK parks were nominated and over 8,000 public votes were cast.
Telford Town Park was nominated by a member of The Friends of Telford Town Park, a volunteer group, started in 2003, that ensures the Park maintains its high standards.
This nomination comes hot on the heals of the Town Park being awarded a Green Flag for the fantastic facilities and upkeep that Telford Town Park proudly strive for everyday.
The nomination quoted the range of attractions available at the park and there being ‘something for everyone’, including a sensory garden, a mix of biodiversity, a nature reserve and formal gardens. The main arena in the Park, which has hosted pop concerts for the past three summers, is protected with Fields in Trust, as a Queen Elizabeth II Field.
The winner of the ‘UK’s Best Park’ title will be announced at the awards ceremony next Wednesday (2 DEC) in London.
Fields in Trust was founded 90 years ago by King George V and has a mission to ensure that everyone – young or old, able-bodied or disabled and wherever they live – should have access to free, local outdoor space for sport, play and recreation.

“The green space that Telford and Wrekin has is amazing and Telford Town Park is the jewel in our crown. The staff work so hard to maintain the facilities for members of the public to enjoy and it’s fantastic to have this hard work by everyone recognised.
“Our green flag signifies that anyone who comes to our park can be safe in the knowledge that the staff are dedicated to making their visit a pleasant and enjoyable experience, in a clean and safe environment.
“Being voted as one of the top three best parks in the nation by members of the public is the icing on the cake.
