Residents asked for feedback on Playing Pitch Strategy
Telford & Wrekin Council has launched a consultation looking at the future use of borough’s outdoor playing pitches.

A new draft Playing Pitch Strategy 2015–2026 for theborough has been produced using the latest Sport England methodology.
The strategy analyses current and future supply, aswell as demand for grass and artificial pitches for five key sports: football,rugby union, rugby league, cricket and hockey.
The purpose of the draft PPS is to make sure thatthere is the right amount and type of playing pitches to provide for thecommunity’s needs now and in the future.
The Strategy includes a framework that will set outhow the Council, its partners, stakeholders, sports clubs and the community canwork together to make improvements to playing pitches in the borough.
The overall aims of the draft strategy are toprotect and enhance levels of outdoor sports facilities, address issues ofquality and management, maximise the number of outdoor facilities in Telfordand Wrekin and increase investment.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for leisureservices, said: “Our local playing pitches are very important to the localcommunity, not just in terms of participating in sport but also from a healthand well-being perspective.
“We need to ensure that the future of our playingpitches in Telford and Wrekin is secure and that we can work together toimprove them.”
