Southwater Library opening hours
The library at Southwater One is set to close on a Sunday from 8 November as Winter approaches and visitors naturally decline.
Openinghours for Southwater One Library from 2 November will be as follows:
Mondayto Friday – 8:30am - 6.00pm
Saturdays– 9.00am – 4.00pm
Sundays– Closed
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “Southwater Library opened last summer and from that point we have constantly monitored visitor numbers to ensure that we are responding to demand and allowing peopleto access the library when it is most required.
“It is clear from our figures that from this time of year visitors dramaticallydecline at Southwater on a Sunday and therefore we have made the decision to close the library on a Sunday over the Winter.
“This brings Southwater in line with all other libraries in the borough which also do not open on a Sunday.
“While there may be some regular visitors to the library who may be disappointed we had to take in to account the additional costs associated by Sunday opening which are considerably higher compared tothe rest of the week and the budget savings we know we will have to make as theamount of funding councils get from the Government from next year will be cut.”
