Notice of two by elections published
Telford & Wrekin Council has today published notice of by- elections in two borough wards, including details of deadlines and timetable.
The two wards are Ironbridge - which needs to be filled following the sad death of existing Labour Councillor Dave Davies – and Newport West following the resignation of Conservative Councillor Adam Stanton, who has work commitments.
Any person wishing to stand as a candidate at the by-elections can collect a nomination pack from the Council Offices at Addenbrooke House. The deadline for receipt of nominations is 4pm on Friday 3 October. The candidates who are standing will be confirmed on Monday 6 October.
The last date for registration for residents in those wards who are not currently on the electoral register but who want to vote is Tuesday 14 October.
The deadline for new applications for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 15 October. Ballot papers will go out to postal voters shortly after this.
Proxy vote applications need to be received by 5pm on Wednesday 22 October and the by-elections will take place on Thursday 30 October, with polling stations open from 7am to 10pm.
