Since the huge success of Telford’s first Drive In event, the council’s arts and culture team has been working hard to organise film and premises licenses and is now able to announce the follow up to the first drive in movie – which sold out two nights in May.

Already announced is the first film – Walt Disney’s animated musical fantasy comedy Frozen (PG), the highest grossing animated film of all time. This now has a confirmed start time of 2pm, with gates opening at 1pm.

Frozen is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen and tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer and a hapless snowman. It was chosen by the public via an online poll.

Telford & Wrekin Council can also announce the Halloween Drive In movie extravaganza will include the cult 1975 classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (15).

The comedy horror is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies on the late 1930s. It gained notoriety soon after release when American audiences started dressing as the characters and talking back to the screen.

It now has a large international cult following and is one of the most well known and financially successful midnight movies of all time.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s confirmed screen time is 8.30pm with gates opening at 8pm.

The culmination of a fantastic day’s viewing is one of the all time classic horror films, Wes Craven’s supernatural slasher movie A Nightmare On Elm Street (18).

Set in the fictional mid western town of Springwood, Ohio, the plot of the 1984 film revolves around several teenagers who are killed in their dreams by Freddy Krueger.

The critically acclaimed film has been hailed for its ability to transgress the boundaries between the imaginary and the real, toying with audience perceptions.

A Nightmare On Elm Street has a confirmed screen time of 11pm with gates opening at 10.30pm.

There will be food and drink available to purchase at the Drive In Movie from the host Telford International Centre Catering Team who will be taking orders to your car, and all the restaurants and bars in Southwater will be open by then for people to visit in between screenings.

The screen is the biggest of its kind in the world. As with the sold out two night showing of Grease and Top Gun in May, cars will be parked according to size to maximise the view for all. The price is the same regardless of the size of car.

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “I am delighted that we can once again bring the drive in movie experience to Telford – it was a huge success last time and doing it again on Halloween seemed an obvious choice.

“We feel we have put together a fantastic line up of films which all loosely have a Halloween theme and there should be something which appeals to all ages.”

The drive in movie costs £20 per car per film plus a £2 admin fee. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday and can be booked online on The Place website http://www.theplacetelford.com/ or by calling the box office on 01952 382382 or by visiting the Box Office in person.
