Five nights of closure for section of box road

The ongoing £11.8m highways improvements in Telford town centre will see the Lawn Central part of the box road being closed for five nights next week.

Five nights of closure for section of box road

Lawn Central is part of the transport scheme to make the town centre box road two way so that it is safer for pedestrians and cyclists and to improve the access to the new £250m Southwater development and the new ASDA.

The latest closure will see Lawn Central closed between 8pm and 6am from its junction with Woodhouse Central to its junction with Hollinsgate from Monday 20 October to Saturday 25 October.

A diversion will be put in place via Forge Gate, Rampart Way and Hollinsgate.

Work to make the Box Road two way will be completed by March 2015 and while every effort will be taken to minimise the impact during construction some road and lane closures will be needed in order to maintain access and safe working.

More information is available on the Box Road webpage.

Councillor Hilda Rhodes, cabinet member for Transport, said: “We would like to apologise for any disruption but this is all essential work that is part of the broader box road scheme.”
