This year’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, will run from Tuesday 9 December to Monday 5 January 2015.

Two teams of eight junior girl dancers aged 8–12 and with a maximum height 4ft 10” and two teams of six female senior dancers, over 5ft, are required to appear in Beauty and the Beast.

The auditions for the places will be held at Oakengates Theatre on Sunday 14 September.

The auditions are open to all dancers who are local to the Theatre and will be able to commit to all rehearsals and performances as necessary.

All those auditioning should be attending regular dance classes and be proficient in Ballet, Jazz and Tap. As well as following a recognised syllabus (IDTA, ISTD, RAD, etc) and have strong performance skills.

Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for leisure services and culture, said: “This is a great opportunity for local girls in the borough with dance skills to play a part in this year’s panto.

“The Christmas panto at Oakengates Theatre is always a highlight of the festive season.

“I look forward to seeing the show and everyone involved with it and wish anyone attending the auditions the best of luck.”

Please note that this will involve some time off school for both rehearsals and performances and will be subject to a Children's Performance Licence being granted by the Local Education Authority in conjunction with permission being given by the child's Head Teacher.

Rehearsals in Telford are mainly after school and at the weekend from Saturday 29 November. Performances from Tuesday 9 December to Monday 5 January 2015.

Registration for the auditions will open at 9am for 10am on Sunday 14 September. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian as a parental consent form must be signed prior to the audition.

Children should wear dance attire and jazz shoes (not trainers) and bring tap shoes with them. Anyone auditioning should also bring two recent passport photographs and a photocopy of the child's birth certificate as the parental part of the licence forms for successful children will be completed on the day.

If any parent or legal guardian is unable to attend on the day, or for any other queries, please contact Nicola Carmichael via email at carmichaeldance@gmail.com or on 01952 619 155.

Every child that is successful at audition will require one female family member who is willing to obtain a chaperone licence and take turns at chaperoning during rehearsals and performances. These rehearsals and performances will be shared equally between the chaperones on a rota basis and will involve both daytime and evening performances.
