Heaven 17 tempt Telford music fans
80s music lovers are set to dance the night away at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on Saturday 8 November when Heaven 17 and Blancmange bring their Tour of Synthetic Delights to Telford.
One of the UK’s most experimental synthesiser bands, Heaven 17 reached number two in the UK charts in 1983 with the classic hit ‘Temptation’ from their platinum album ‘The Luxury Gap’.
Original band members Martyn Ware on keyboards and lead vocalist Glenn Gregory have joined forces with the electro-pop pairing Blancmange for their UK tour this autumn.
Blancmange, who describe themselves as “absurdists”, had seven top 40 hits including ‘Living on the Ceiling’ and two top 40 albums between 1982 and 1985. They have recently recorded a new studio album which is due to be released in early 2015.
Heaven 17’s enigmatic front-man, Glenn Gregory, said: “We are so excited to be going on tour with such a fantastic band. These will be very special nights of synthetic delights. Heaven 17 and Blancmange are a match made in Heaven... which is better than a match made in Blancmange (I think). The fans are going to have a night to remember.”
Heaven 17 and Blancmange will be bringing their Tour of Synthetic Delights to Telford’s Oakengates Theatre at 8pm on Saturday 8 November. Tickets are £19.50, with a special group offer – buy five tickets, get the sixth free, and are available from http://www.theplacetelford.com/, by calling the ticket office on 01952 382382 or in person at the theatre and Southwater One.
