New TLC App set for launch
The success story that is the Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) is about to unveil a new chapter – in the form of its very own app.
The TLC App – which launches today - can be downloaded free of charge and features all the very latest offers that people can access by using their card.
The app will bring all the benefits of TLC and more with offers listed by category. Users can also look at a map and location function to see what offers are nearby.
The TLC is already a massive success with more than 260 businesses signed up to bring the public more than 275 offers. More than 68,000 cards are in circulation.
The card gives people access to discounts and offers across a wide range of businesses from big name national chains to local independent retailers and service providers.
The TLC can also be used to access fantastic offers from council leisure services including swimming, gym, golf, skating as well as the theatre.
The app will include information on things to do in Telford to help visitors including both business people and leisure tourists to get the most out of the borough.
Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet lead for the Telford Loyalty Card, said: “The TLC has been an unqualified success from the moment we launched it and I am very proud that we have delivered such a fantastic resource for residents, visitors and local businesses.
“We are constantly examining how we can improve the TLC offer and that is reflected by the new App going live. We have deliberately worked to ensure it is live three weeks before Christmas so people can take full advantage ahead of the festive season.
“I think driving the economy forward is one of the key responsibilities of a local authority and we are committed to doing this – in spite of the extremely challenging financial situation the council itself faces as a result of stringent government cuts to its budget.
“I look forward to using the app myself in the coming weeks now that it is live.”
In time, the app will be developed to give information on places of interest and things to do in the area, helping users to get the most out of their time in Telford.
It is now available on IOS (apple) and will very shortly be available on android phones, with a Windows version available in the New Year.
People have a choice of downloading the app or still using their physical plastic Telford Loyalty Card. The app can be found in the App Store by searching Telford Loyalty Card.
