Meet Beauty and the Beast stars on Panto Day!

Just a handful of tickets are still available for the show on Friday, and ticket holders may even be lucky enough to meet the stars of the show who will be spreading Christmas cheer in the bar area from 5.30pm, before the performance starts at 6.30pm. Friday 12 December is also Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day so why not spread the jumper joy and wear a winter woolly to the show!

Founded in 2011, Panto Day began life as an experiment to see whether casts around the world could get #panto trending whilst sharing behind the scenes sneak peeks of rehearsals and performances. Since then, Panto Day has gone on to become a global celebration which regularly sees over 1.5 million #panto tweets being sent on Panto Day itself.

Oakengates Theatre @ The Place has teamed up with Trio Furnishings on Holyhead Road in Ketley to bring 47 performances of Beauty and the Beast to Telford this winter, starring Matt Evers from ITV’s Dancing on Ice as Gerald Le Huntsman. The magical tale is running right through until 5 January 2015 and tickets are selling fast for many of the performances.

Phil Butler, who proved popular in last year’s production of Aladdin, is back in Telford as Hugo Le Gaff and is joined by Ian Billings, who makes a popular return to the Oakengates Theatre stage as Belle’s father, Professor René Crackpot.

The UK’s former Eurovision Song Contest singer Nicki French plays Witch Guillotine and Danny Mills entertains audiences of all ages as Madame Cherie Trifle, with Gary Tushaw delivering a West End performance as the Beast and Trixie Waggot lighting up the stage as Belle.

Tickets for Beauty and the Beast start from as little as £9.50 and can be booked at http://www.theplacetelford.com/, by calling the ticket office on 01952 382382 or in person at Southwater One and the theatre. Telford Loyalty Card holders can see the panto for just £10 at 5.30pm on Sunday 14 December or 1pm on Friday 2 January.
