Don’t get angry - get greener with Incredible Bulk collection offers
Is that bulky item you need to get rid at home driving you mad? Too big to put in your weekly collection or take to the Community Recycling Centre?
Help is at hand and residents can now go even greener with a range of Incredible Bulk offers on Telford & Wrekin Council’s bulky items collection service.
This service will take up to six items away from your home, including TVs, sofas, baths, electrical items, doors, mattresses and fence panels – waste that is too big to put in the normal kerbside recycling or rubbish collection.
As part of the council’s Pride in Your Community initiative, the Incredible Bulk offers give a range of discounts on the service, normally costing £18, depending on residents’ circumstances, including :
• Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) holders receive a 10% reduction – all you need to do is quote your TLC card number when booking your collection
• Households where a resident is 65 or over or who have a long standing illness or disability will each qualify for one free bulk collection a year until April 2016
• Residents receiving Council Tax Support or Housing Benefit get a 25% discount (£4.50) off the costs of a collection
• People living in these areas can access other bulk discounts – Brookside, Cuckoo Oak, Dawley Magna, Hadley & Leegomery, Malinslee, the Nedge, Newport and Woodside
Cllr Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, Employment and Skills: “The bulk collection service is key for people who have items that are too big to recycle or dispose of with their other waste as part of their weekly collection.
"As part of the Pride in Your Community programme we’re extending the number of discounts on this service and everyone in the borough can qualify for a discount.
"We hope the bulks scheme will also help us discourage fly tipping and the very significant costs that the public has to meet every year to remove fly tips on council land up. We also find that the vast majority of waste we collect as part of the offer is recycled making the service the greener way to get rid of your waste."
