Pride In Your Community improves borough maintenance
Telford & Wrekin Council’s £13.8m Pride In Your Community has improved the way the borough is maintained since it began in April last year.
An extensive report outlining the work that has been carried out will go to the next meeting of the council’s cabinet on March 19.
It highlights that complaints received relating to the council’s Neighbourhood Services have reduced by 47 per cent from 497 in 2013 to 265 in 2014. The council has also received 165 compliments during 2014 for its Neighbourhood Services.
Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: "Our intention when we set up Pride In Your Community was to make sure it does the little things that don’t get banner headlines but make a difference to the quality of people’s lives.
"We wanted to ensure that our neighbourhoods are safe, clean and well maintained and promote pride in our borough and I think we’ve taken some major steps to do that.
"Our approach to delivering the programme has involved working jointly with residents, ward members, cross council services and partner agencies to bring together social and physical improvements.
"But we won’t rest on our laurels. Pride In Your Community is a two year programme and so provides an opportunity to deliver and continue to increase its impact during 2015/16."
