Road sites set for treatment as Pride in Your Community gathers pace
Residents across Telford and Wrekin will see roads in 61 areas across the borough improved as the Council’s Pride in Your Community programme gathers pace.
This major surface dressing programme begins on April 7 and will take around five weeks to complete.
Full details of all the areas where there will be surface dressing with the expected work start date can be found at www.telford.gov.uk/sd
The surface dressing is treating roads in relatively good condition with a layer of aggregate chippings and bitumen emulsion to seal the surface and maintain its condition.
This allows roads to be maintained to a safe standard for longer before needing resurfacing which is much more costly, time consuming and causes greater traffic congestion.
Roads are not normally closed to lay surface dressing. However, access may be limited for short periods and treatment is normally completed within a day.
Cllr Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “Residents in the areas affected are asked to be aware and may need to move parked vehicles. While we’ve scheduled this work in on particular dates, this may need to change as this work is dependent on the weather and temperatures.
“This is another important part of the major £6 million investment in improving the road network over three years as part of our Pride in Your Community programme.”
The work will carried out on behalf of the Council by RMS Ltd.
