Work to begin to upgrade shop frontages in Overdale

The scheme to upgrade the area at the front of the shops is being funded by over £30,000 from the Pride In Your Community project.

The work, which will start on Monday (30 MAR), will include new parking, new footpaths and existing footpath arrangements upgraded.

The current layout has a single lane access across the front of shops and no parking spaces. The new scheme will offer parallel parking to resolve this issue.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “This work will ensure that the front of the shops in Overdale is more accessible and easier for both pedestrians and those driving.

“The Pride In Your Community project is helping local communities in the borough to improve their local environment.

“Pride In Your Community has already proved a big success with lots of positive outcomes as a result of the £13.8m funding we have committed to enhance our existing maintenance programme.”

Pride in Your Community is a two year borough wide investment programme and was launched in February 2014.

Pride In Your Community focuses on environmental and social issues that are important to local residents. It also aim to improve areas where businesses are located to support new and existing businesses and to assist with local jobs.
