Consultation event on future of former Gower Street Youth Club

The Council wants local people to get involved in a consultation process over the building’s future.

Telford & Wrekin Council, St Georges Partnership and the Gower Heritage and Enterprise group will hold a consultation event on Saturday 25 April.

Local residents and businesses are invited to come along and share their memories of the former Youth building, to bring any photos or memorabilia of the Gower Street building as well as their ideas and suggestions for its future use.

The event will take place on Saturday 25 April from 10.30am–1.30pm at St Georges Parish Rooms.

There will also be a local artist on site to gather ideas from residents for a wall art design that will be painted onto the hoardings that will be placed at the front of the building during its refurbishment.

Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council deputy leader, said: “We’re delighted that funding for the refurbishment of this much-loved building has been secured and we’re now keen to get ideas on its future use from the local community.

“We have been working and will continue to work very closely with the local community, the Gower Heritage and Enterprise Group and local stakeholders to establish the best use for the building to ensure it has a sustainable future.

“Through this work and further consultation we will be able to bring the building back into community use and actively engage and consult the community about its potential use in the future.”
