Emergency roadworks on Castle Farm Way

Drivers who use Castle Farm Way (A4640) in Priorslee to get to the M54 at Junction 4 and to access south Telford are urged to consider alternative routes during emergency roadworks.

Emergency roadworks on Castle Farm Way

The southbound lane of Castle Farm Way from Limekiln Bank to the Castle Farm Interchange (Junc 4) is closed.

If drivers usually use this route to get on to the M54, they may wish to consider joining the motorway at a different junction.

Castle Farm Way northbound heading to the A5 at the Limekiln Bank roundabout at Redhill remains open. Side roads off the affected part of Castle Farm Way are able to access this route.

The emergency reconstruction of the carriageway is needed after planned  resurfacing works to address complaints about noise, vibration and an unacceptably uneven road surface revealed that the road’s foundation has failed and requires full reconstruction.

The works are expected to last another five weeks. A signed diversion is in place for drivers travelling south on Castle Farm Way from Limekiln Bank.

Angie Astley, Telford & Wrekin Council’s assistant director of Neighbourhood and Customer Services, said: “We apologise for the inconvenience that this very necessary work will cause but I am sure that people will understand why it is needed.

“We have agreed with contractors a way of working which does not involve side roads being closed and we thank road users for their patience.

"If you use Castle Farm Way to travel south you may wish to look at alternative routes or allow more time for your journey.”
