Lawley Village Primary Academy Open Day
Telford & Wrekin Council and Lawley Village Primary Academy are to hold an Open Day on Saturday (16 May).
The drop-in event is open to everyone between 1–3pm at the Lawley Village Development Group Visitor Centre.
The Open Day will be an opportunity for local people to meet representatives from the sponsors and the new head teacher, Laura Hopley, as well as to see photos and plans of the progress.
Work began on the site in Lawley at the beginning of the year and is progressing well.
The new academy will open on a temporary site from September (2015) and the new school building is due to open to pupils in January 2016.
The funding for the Lawley Village Primary Academy has been provided by the Lawley Village Consortium, comprising Barratt Homes, Charles Church, David Wilson Homes, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey.
Shepherd Construction, who are building Lawley Village Primary Academy, are also currently undertaking the work rebuilding and remodelling the remaining five secondary schools in the Council’s Building Schools for the Future programme.
REAch2 WM Academy Trust has recently been appointed as the new Sponsors of the Academy.
REAch2 is the largest primary-only academy trust in the country and is a growing charitable organisation currently supporting some 35 primary academies across England.
Jim Collins, Telford & Wrekin Council Assistant Director for Education and Corporate Parenting, said: “We hope that local people will come along on Saturday to see our plans and speak to the people who will be running the school.
“We’re pleased that the building work is progressing well and that pupils will be able to move into the new school building in January."
The Open Day will be on Saturday 16 May at the Visitor Centre in Lawley between 1–3pm.
