Next Telford history session at Southwater Library

The next “Telford Our New Town” session takes place at Southwater Library on Saturday 13 June.

Next Telford history session at Southwater Library

The drop in session takes place between 10.30am and 12 noon and will see library staff showcasing how the library’s digital table works and how residents can look at historical photos on it.

These include the Midland Red buses and the steam tramway in the Telford Town Park – which was opened by the Rev Wilbert Awdry, the creator of Thomas the Tank Engine.

Residents who remember those events and also the building of the M54 can have their memories added to the digital table by library staff.

As part of the event, Telford Steam Railway will also be having a display so that residents can have a chat about what’s happening this summer season and discover the joys of steam railways.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Libraries, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to share their memories and explore our digital archive. There will be staff on hand at the event to help show them how to use the facilities."
