Councillors' Pride Fund
All 54 elected members who sit on Telford & Wrekin Council will again be given £2,000 to spend on local ward projects as part of the newly-named Councillors’ Pride Fund.
A total of 380 projects, events and groups have benefited over the last three years from what used to be the Ward Co-operative Fund.
The fund has meant members of the council have been able to bring a great deal of additional value to their wards.
This has included supporting community groups to deliver activities and events or by investing in small physical improvements that have had a big impact for the community.
Many projects have also been match funded by town and parish councils leading to even greater value been achieved.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet meeting on July 23 is being asked to approve the name change to Councillors’ Pride Fund and the allocation of £108,000 to deliver the scheme.
Each ward member will get £2,000 and at least half of that has to be spent on environmentally themed projects.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Business, Neighbourhood and Customer Services, said; "The Councillors’ Pride Fund is designed to give individual ward members the opportunity to use the money to enhance their local area.
"We’ve seen some great examples of how the money has been spent in the past three years and I am delighted that we are in a position to run the scheme again."
Projects put forward for funding need to demonstrate that they contribute to the Five Ways Of Wellbeing and the money is available up until 31 January 2016.
Any funding that has not been committed by 31 January 2016 will be reallocated to support community based projects that support the delivery of council priorities.
