Successful year of A level results
Students across Telford and Wrekin have been rejoicing after a successful year of ‘A’ Level results.
Early indicators suggest that a higher proportion of students have passed their ‘A’ Levels and other equivalent qualifications than in previous years; all that hard work has been rewarded.
This year’s results include an increase in the proportion of students achieving the higher grades of A* to B which will open doors to University places.
Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College is finishing on a high, with a significant improvement in results. The school is closing this summer but the staff and students are relocating to the new Holy Trinity Academy in Priorslee.
Madeley Academy is also celebrating a big increase in their pass rates, with many more students gaining at least 2 passes than the previous year.
Adams Grammar has maintained the high level of higher passes with the average pass grade well above a grade B.
At Newport Girls High School, there is a high level of passes at the top grades allowing the girls to secure places at their chosen universities.
At New College, an increased proportion of the students have achieved at least two passes at ‘A’ Level and the average grade of pass has also gone up.
Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "I welcome this year’s A Level results and would like to congratulate all the students and staff for their achievements."
