Consultation events for brownfield sites plan
Telford & Wrekin Council is holding three consultation events in early October to ask residents what they feel should be built on three brownfield sites.

The council has secured funding to make the sites ready for development after becoming one of only nine local authorities which have made successful bids to the Local Development Order Incentive Fund.
Telford & Wrekin Council has received £175,703 to help unlock three brownfield sites for residential development. The sites are the former Phoenix School in Webb Crescent, Dawley, land adjacent to Thomas Telford School at Old Park and land adjacent to Granville Country Park at Donnington Wood.
The money will support the investigative work and preparation of each site to a stage where it could get outline planning permission – providing greater certainty for potential developers.
The council is running consultation events for each site: Land at Donnington Wood will take place at Donnington Wood Lifelong Learning Centre on Tuesday 6 October, the former Phoenix School site in Dawley will be held at Dawley House on Wednesday 7 October and the Old Park site will be exhibited at The Carpenter Family Centre in Overdale on Friday 9 October. All events will run from 2–8pm.
Leaflets are being posted to nearby residents and advertisements will be appearing in the Telford Journal this week.
“We are doing our utmost to support the development of these brownfield sites because doing that will release the pressure on green field land,” said Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for Housing.
“We have therefore taken advantage of this government initiative in order to make these sites more attractive for developers to submit applications.
“I am looking forward to hearing what members of the public feel should be built on the sites. Making the sites ready for development will provide an incentive for developers to proceed without the time and cost implications of having to submit a planning application.”
