Community and Council clean up an area of Brookside
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride in Your Community teams have been working with the Brookside ‘Big Local’ resident group to clean up the verge along the estate's central pathway.
Over the last few weeks, the Council has cut back thick, overgrown shrubs that run alongside the pathway revealing attractive woodland. Cutting back the shrubs exposed a lot of litter and fly tipping which were also cleared. Grass seed will now be sown on the newly cleared areas and wildflower bulbs planted to provide a blanket of bright spring colour from February to May every year. The spring bulbs have been chosen by Brookside residents living alongside the path and the plan is for the community to help with the planting.
The project is part of the Council’s Pride in Your Community programme which has seen residents and Brookside ‘Big Local’ come together to work on community projects that make a difference where they live.
More work is planned in Brookside and the Pride in your Community teams are keen for residents to get involved. It is a great opportunity for you to gain new skills and practical experience in a range of landscaping and environmental work.
